Massage Therapy

Extended massage therapy will help release stress and tension and aid a person to regain their equilibrium so that they can enjoy a clearer mind and recover their zest for life.  The time, care and consideration will leave you feeling like a new person.

What is Massage Therapy?

Massage Therapy is the mobilization of the soft tissues of the body:  muscles, tendons, and ligaments.  Therapeutic massage increases blood circulation, loosens adhesions between underlying structures, breaks down scar tissue, increases flexibility and range of motion of the joints, and aids in lymphatic flow. Massage therapy is also one of the most effective means available to combat stress, calm tension, relax the mind and lift the spirit.

According the Massage Therapy Act of 1991, "Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain."

Why use massage therapy?

Massage therapy not only treats problem areas, but also affects the whole of your metabolism through normalizing your circulatory, muscular and nervous systems and their interdependent functioning.

Massage therapy is safe and effective if used for stress management, but it is also widely used to help patients obtain relief from many specific problems, including the following:

  • migraines
  • post injury rehabilitation
  • whiplash
  • arthritis
  • circulatory problems
  • lymph congestion
  • frozen shoulder
  • neuritis/bursitis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • neck and shoulder tension
  • low back pain
  • pseudo-sciatica (leg aches)
