What is Massage Therapy?
Massage Therapy
is the mobilization of the soft tissues of the body:
muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Therapeutic massage increases blood circulation, loosens
adhesions between underlying structures, breaks down scar tissue,
increases flexibility and range of motion of the joints, and aids in
lymphatic flow. Massage therapy is also one of the most effective
means available to combat stress, calm tension, relax the mind and
lift the spirit.
According the Massage Therapy Act of 1991, "Massage therapy is a
comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to
manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of
massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or
augment physical function or relieve pain."
Why use massage therapy?
Massage therapy not only treats problem areas, but also affects the
whole of your metabolism through normalizing your circulatory,
